Quarters of Change

For my fifth album review, I am incorporating a lesser known band. My friend introduced me to them a few weeks ago and I loved a song called "T-Love." Quarters of Change is a progressive rock band known for their experimental sound. Based in Los Angeles, California, their influencers include Pink Floyd, Tool, and many others.

Their latest (and only) album "Into The Rift" is a journey that takes listeners on a ride through different musical landscapes. With a blend of psychedelic and experimental rock, the album showcases the band's versatility and musical prowess. The band's unique sound and dynamic performance make this album a must-listen for fans of off-center, genre-defying music.

Again, I will listen to each song and rate/describe it. Then, give the album an overall score out of 10.

1: "T Love"

This song utilizes amazing guitar and vocals, and incorporates a driving percussion from the drums that makes you move along to it. Rating: 10

2: "Rift"

Moving from T Love, this song sounds a lot different at the beginning, but ends up pump faking you by switching the instrumentation back and forth from an alternative feeling to a rock vibe. Rating: 8

3: "Ms. Dramatic"

The guitar takes a backseat to the drums a lot in this song, and the vocals are what makes this song good. Rating: 7

4: "Jaded"

Like T Love, I find myself really nodding along with the drums and impressed by the vocals in each verse that passes. Rating: 9

5: " Chloe"
About a girl named Chloe, the lyrics seem to mean a little more in this song than the rest. Rating: 7

6: "Dead"

A kind of haunting reverb or tone is used by the vocals in this song, and the way it is mixed adds onto a kind of electro feel. The lyrics to this one are dark but overall feel is not. Rating: 9

7: "Too Many Thoughts"

A solemn, glum kind of feeling is what this song gives off, then gets loud and a bit more energetic.  Rating: 6

8: "Sex"

This is another sing with a more electronic feel to it. Rating: 6

9: "NYCCG"

Standing for "New York City College Girls," I wasn't sure where this song was going at first. It seems to be more of an interlude. Rating: 5

10: "Healthy"

Sad lyrics, sung in a sad way, with slow instruments make this song a bit of downer until the vocals break through during the chorus in a desperate but beautiful kind of way. Rating: 9

11: "Die In Your Arms"

This album started fast and energetic, and got sad and slow by the end. This song tops that off well. Rating: 7

Overall Rating: 9
